My adventure to Kansas

This is me looking through the display of things my teacher had in our classroom window. I didn't get to do all of the projects because I started school late, but it was fun learning about Egypt. We also sang songs and had food.

An Easter Egg Swap

I was in an Easter Egg Swap that Stephanie hosted and my partner was Bettina. She sent me this neat stuff. It was so exciting opening the 12 eggs and finding little surprised in each one. I love way she decorated the egg carton with leaves and ladybugs. It's so cute! I love the lip gloss and the bracelet is so pretty! I put the magnets on the frig so everyone could see them. I shared the cute chocolates with my brothers. See how the chocolates are little bugs? They are so cute and good too.

Going back to school.

I am starting school next week. I want to meet new friend's. I don't have a lot of friend's. I have no one to play with. I am going to Green Meadow.

GandmaJo and Addy

My Grandma Jo got me a American Girl Doll. Her name is Addy. I have been feeding her and giving her drinks. My Grandma Jo is the best. My mom took picture's of us when I first got her.

Addy is from the History American Girl Dolls. When she was little she was a slave and her family had to escape and travel on the underground railroad. Addy and her mother had to leave Addy's baby sister, Esther, behind to find her dad and brother because if Esther cried they might get caught.

My mom is going to get a pattern and make me some clothes for Addy. I am so excited. I think this is a dream.

I love Addy and Thank you so much Grandma Jo!!!

My brother Chad and his wife Jenn just had their first baby.

His name is Chad Wescott Kirker, Jr. and he is big!

He weighs 9lbs. 15 oz. and is 20 inches long.

I'm so excited and I can't wait to see him!

A Person I Admire!

I really like to read about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. so I wrote a report about him. Some of it I copied from a website. I hope you like it.

Martin Luther King, Jr. was born on Jan. 15, 1929. His parents names were Martin Luther King, Sr. and Alberta Williams King. His mother was a teacher and she taught him how to read before he was even in school. She also tried to explain prejudice and the Jim Crow laws that separated whites and blacks. She explained the Civil War and it ended slavery, but not the hatred and prejudice between blacks and whites. They had a lot of books at their house and at a young age he decided he would do well in a white mans world. His father was a preacher. He said that his dad was a good example for him. He was a strong man and he was helpful in having blacks with police departments and helping black teachers get the same pay as white teachers. Martin Luther King, Jr. said that he still remembered his father refusing to sit at the back of a shoe store because he was black.

He went to Booker T. Washington High School. He was part of the debate team and had to travel to different schools for the debates. He was sitting near the front of the bus with his teacher. It was common for black people to sit in the back of the bus because some white people thought they were better than blacks. They didn't realize the bus was filling up and the driver told them to go to the back of the bus but they refused. The driver then cursed and threatened them. They moved only because Martin Luther King, Jr.'s teacher was in tears, so they moved to the back of the bus. Martin Luther King, Jr. felt terrible, but this gave him determination to fight prejudice.

He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School when he was just 15. He went to become a minister at the age of 17, he gave his first sermon as a preacher at age 18 and a year later he graduated from Morohouse College. After graduation he traveled to Pennsylvania to study at the Crozzer Theological Seminary. This was his first time being in a school with white people. They were all pretty nice to him although Martin Luther King, Jr. had a few problems with a white boy, but later they became friends. Martin Luther King, Jr. graduated from Crozzer in 1951 with honors. Then he went to Boston University to get his doctrine in theology.


In Feburary 1952 he met Corretta Scott. She was a smart girl who studied at the New England Conservatory of Music. They went to movies, dances and opera together. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Corretta Scott got married in June of 1953. He had many job offers as a college dean. He could have worked in the south with his father at Ebenezor Baptist Church or go up north, but he decided to go down south to work as a preacher of Pexter Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama.

James Earl Ray killed Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.


Martin Luther King, Jr. is my hero. Every year in school I check out books about him and look forward to celebrating his birthday.
